Assistant Coach
Autumn Kirkland is from Clarksville, TN and attended Northwest High School, Austin Peay State University and earned a Bachelor’s degree in English, and is currently working towards her Master’s degree in Education with a specialization in Adolescent Literacy and Learning at an online institution at Walden University. Coach Kirkland resides in Clarksville with her puppy, Piper; she is a seventh grade English Language Arts teacher at New Providence Middle School. Coach Kirkland played volleyball all four years at Northwest and was offered a scholarship at a private Christian university. Due to financial circumstances, attending Austin Peay without a scholarship was the cheaper route. Coach Kirkland’s passion for the sport of volleyball drove her to continue playing in leagues while attending APSU; she believes that volleyball teaches young women perseverance, loyalty, and communication skills that they can carry with them into their lives beyond the sport. Coach Kirkland is excited to stand beside Coach Hudson in their endeavors to encourage each athlete to continue to grow in their knowledge and improve upon their skills as an individual and as part of a team. She is excited to work with new and returning athletes to teach and refine their techniques so that our upcoming 2016 season will be more successful and competitive than ever before.
